100 Ghostly Apparitions to Encounter

Description

Publisher Blurb:

This supplement has 100 apparitions that characters could encounter. They are suitable, perhaps with some tweaking, for any setting in which ghosts might be expected to be encountered. The apparitions may be reliving the moment of their death, or perhaps following a job or hobby from life. They may be on a cycle, forever repeating the same event, fading away in between, or they may keep doing what they're doing until disturbed in some way. Whether or not an apparition reacts in any way to characters is up to the GameMaster. The apparitions may be impossible to interact with, or it may be possible to disturb them. In some cases, the areas where they died have objects related to their death.

Here are some sample results:

Crawling along the ground is a woman with broken fingernails and long, straggly black hair. She looks up when seen, mouths "Help me," then disappears.

Crouched on the ground is a woman who is digging into the soil with their bare hands. There is still a small mound of moss-covered dirt and a small depression in the ground where they were digging.

Crying is coming from a woman wrapped in a shawl with very little of her visible. Her face, which is hidden by the shawl, is looking down at a small bundle in swaddling clothes that she is holding.

Dozens of rats swarms over a kneeling figure and pull them to the ground. Faint screaming can be heard as the figure struggles, before going still. When the rats leave, only raw and bloody bones are left, which fade from view.

Dragging themselves along the ground by their hands is a shadowy figure, whose legs do not seem to be functioning.
