Description

Publisher Blurb:

Characters do not spend all their time in the wilderness or dungeons; they will also spend time in cities, towns and other urban areas. Urban experiences can be glossed over, but it can be more interesting to develop the cities into alternative places for adventures, not simply places to resupply and recuperate between travels. Adventuring in urban areas can be a different experience, as townsfolk and law enforcement will tend to frown on dealing violently with problems.

This is a list of 100 different encounters that characters can have in urban areas. They can be used as simply background colour, events for characters to notice but not participate in. However, should the characters choose to get involved in the encounters, they can function as adventure hooks and be developed further.

This PDF supports Adobe layers and the page backgrounds and images can be disabled to make printing easier.

Here is a sample result:

Outside a tavern, a middle-aged noblewoman falls from her madly galloping horse. The woman lands on the street with a fair amount of force and suffers a few injuries as a result. If questioned, the noblewoman says she doesn’t know what has got into her steed; she has been riding the mare for years and is an experienced rider. If the woman wasn’t, she would have suffered far more damage in the fall. Her horse has been ensorcelled by a mage in an attempt to kill the noblewoman. The mage was employed by the woman’s husband, who wants to replace her with his much younger mistress.
