Having quality NPC names is a hallmark of a good DM, but coming up with realistic sounding names on the fly can be difficult. I am embarrassed to admit how many times my group has run into “Bob the Bartender”, or “Gary the Guard”! Name generators sometimes provide helpful names, but often the names they provide don’t sound like real names. Years of running games has taught me that there is no better name than the real thing!
