People have wanted to play as various undead creatures in D&D for as long as the game has been around, and the imagination jumps straight to zombies, liches, vampires, etc. Now, why are these artificer subclasses? Specifically, why does this collection go with Storm King's Thunder so well? Well, this collection has spoilers, although vague, there is something affecting the mental state of denizens of the North. This maddening force has resulted in many artificers becoming mad scientists. These mad scientists have gone to great lengths to become greater.
With this collection, you will get to experience the perspective of characters like strahd, the mummy, the scorpion king, characters in the village, vecna, the grim reaper, etc. Have a great time, learn quite a bit of creature lore. Have fun!
At first, this subclass' mechanics were part of a much more complicated and klunky subclass. That is why there will be more mad scientist subclasses coming soon with different focuses.
