An Illuminated History of Malkionism.
The brilliant Gloranthan artist Katrin Dirim has illustrated Nick Brooke's historical outline of the Mediaeval West of Glorantha, with 16 glorious manuscript pictures depicting key moments in Malkioni scripture and history, as well as three studies of the Western peoples: the ancient Brithini, maritime Waertagi and detestable Vadeli. From the Ice Age to the God Learners, from the Serpent Kings of Seshneg to Arkat's Dark Empire, gain new insights into Glorantha through the eyes of a visionary steeped in the artistic traditions of antiquity and the middle ages.
Written as an in-world document to introduce players of the 70-player live-action freeform role-playing game ‘How the West was One’ to the Malkioni West, the text has been unchanged since its first publication in 1994 in the ‘University of Sog City Conference Guide’ and ’Tales of the Reaching Moon #13: the Go West! Special’, while the artwork is entirely new for this edition.
Content Warning: the last two pages show how some of the (fictional) Gloranthan Malkioni people malign their enemies, the (equally fictional) Gloranthan Vadeli people, in ways that resemble anti-Semitic and other blood libels of antiquity and the Middle Ages. The author and artist utterly reject anti-Semitism, and urge game masters and players to take care if they choose to bring these tropes into Glorantha.
