In A Phoenix's Rebirth, a level-3 Shadowdark RPG one-shot, the adventurers visit Nightfall City, the Jewel of the desert. In Nightfall, the night sky is clearer and brighter than in other regions and it is the best place to gaze at the Line of Fire, an astral event that occurs every 96 years and that also causes a local phoenix bird to be reborn in a mountain shrine.
The problem is that an evil cult known as the Fiery Heart has taken over the mountain shrine, the Temple of Rebirth, with the nefarious intention of binding the phoenix as it is reborn so that the cult leader achieves great power. The characters embark on a journey to the mountain where they must find the shrine, explore its undead-ridden halls, and stop the cult leader before it is too late.
This is a diverse adventure where the characters explore the city of Nightfall and learn about the locals and the region, track an evil cult upstream and into the mountain region, and confront the cultists while the legendary bird is reborn.
