From publisher blurb:
AN EPISODE FOR FOUR TO SIX WANDERERS IN THE NEW RY'LAEH CITY SETTING
The island of Pinewood is the first step into the deep pine woods and misty coastlines of West Ry’laeh, a place where people go to get away from the debauchery and excess of the city streets of Caringtown and the like in East Ry’laeh.
Lonely and quiet for the most part, Pinewood is solemn and foggy, only three towns built here deep in the words by Sasquatch worshippers who tend to the church here. The dense forests are popular hiking destinations for cityfolk looking for some weekend warrior-style fun, but often they find themselves lost and needing the help of locals to make their way back down. And they are nothing but agreeable to assisting, after a hefty fee with tax is paid. Pinewood is also home to several small mills - owned and operated by the Church of Sasquatch - which produce and sell lumber strictly to West Ry’laeh businesses and organizations, only offering East Ry’laeh markets if businesses there do not use PolypPower. This has gotten rarer and rarer, and while the money pool in West Ry’laeh is not always the most plentiful, it at least keeps the timber harvested from sacred grandfather cedars within the lands of the Ministerium.
We find ourselves in a ramshackle cabin hastily turned into a small law office, with Bendleroot Esq. painted in flowing gold font on a piece of wood over the door. Quincy is a relatively new arrival in Pinewood, fresh out of law school and fresh off the boat from the southern state of Tjas. She isn’t used to the small island politics and Miskantee mentality that many of the denizens of West Ry’laeh still live by, but is slowly finding her spot helping with small legal concerns. However, she has started to explore the legality of the PolypPower industry in East Ry’laeh, uncovering more and more.
Our story begins one night in July…a gunshot…the sound of breaking glass…a scream…a motorcycle revving…and then…silence…
