From the introduction:
In the beginning, the world was created, and it was an Abomination.
In the time before the world, the Four Eidolon, the Lords of the Elements, held court in the formlessness of the Cosmos on their Everchanging Thrones. Fire was as ice, stone was as water. Each Eidolon was possessed of a Nemesis, the shade of their glory, the millstone of doubt hung 'round the neck of the omnipotent Lords.
How did it come, then, that Leviathan: Cold Lord, Blood Lord, formed a dark pact with his Nemesis? How did it come that Leviathan, embraced and corrupted and consumed, became Creator, pulling a World screaming from the Timeless Ocean into bright being?
With his Creation, Leviathan corrupted the whole of Eternity, and set himself apart from the Eidolon. Its awful brilliance, however, gave over a glimmer of the Truth – that the Nemeses were one and the same - fingers on the Hand of Downfall, a Lord of Ruin set among the Eidolon to subvert the Cosmos to his own design – to shackle, to imprison, to corrupt and infuse the Cosmos with none but his own Will.
And so begins the First Age of World, the Eidolon set against Nemesis and beset from within by the very thing they long to defy. Come the Fifth Age, the Reckoning Age, all will be decided, for good or ill – and the Terrible World will perish or become the seed for a Cosmos of Glittering Tyranny.
