From the introduction:

Copenhagen, September 1621

"The never-ending rain distracts me." Step in the mud. "The weakness disappears under my window." The sound fades away. "A fragile roar of keys." The last door seems empty and the windows dark. "I turn slowly." Long shadows against the walls. The glass bottles are transformed into dream creatures, and the room loses its forms. Back to work. The rest of the city is asleep, but I have to search through the night.

A story about a creature of insight and the birth of science. The year is 1621, the place of Copenhagen. The bright light from the dawn of the enlightenment is broken with the dawn of superstition, and the new students of the semester have to choose a page.
