Long ago, humanity lost all of its memories. I one single event, the entirety of human history, culture and civilisation disappeared. The scrolls describe this event as a white flash, whipping out everything that came before it and leaving people void. While no-one has managed to understand this phenomenon, many theories arose throughout the generations. Some say humans when too far in their study of magic while other say that some forgotten gods punished humanity for their sins.
Whatever the reason however, all agree that one thing is probably both the cause and solution for the nicknamed “Lost age”, Story magic.
Story magic is one of the most respected field of magic in the current era, it enables Storytellers – the practicians of story magic – to visit the magical remnants of memories from the lost age. As memories and history are central to modern civilisation, it’s no wonder that Storyteller are loved and revered everywhere. Presiding over Story magic is the Story teller’s Association. The association handles and teach the practice of story magic and chooses which stories a group of storytellers – called a cabal – can visit. This strict control has made them the main authority in Story magic and many questions their intent, but no-one would ever dare question the importance of story magic.
Through the use of story magic, the association is slowly rebuilding the lost age, sending storytellers into dangerous missions to visit and record lost memories onto parchment. You and your friends are one of these storytellers. Whatever drove you to this line of work, you are now a member of one of the most prestigious organisations in the known world and for many, the danger they face is more than worth it.
