Any number can play. The four dice are thrown by each player in turn and the first player to throw the word 'ALBA', wins and takes the prize or kitty. Those are the rules although the publisher does say that "many variations can be thought up of this popular party game". For instance, a player throwing all four of the same letter can get a second place prize, and so on.
