Description

Publisher's blurb:

Alea is played in groups of, we recommend, four to seven people. Each player creates a character, some kind of fantasy alter ego, which you'll be acting as during the game. If you haven't roleplayed before, think of it as acting as it's done in a film or a play; only you're doing it without a script. Instead, it's up to you what'll happen. There's no real right or wrong way of roleplaying and there's no way of winning anything; instead it's all about enjoying the trip.

One player will take the role of Dungeon Master, or DM. While she won't be getting a character of her own, she'll be managing anything and everything else in the game aside from your own characters. The DM takes the role of anyone else you'll meet, so-called Non-player characters (or NPC:s), and is in charge of coming up with and describing the areas you'll visit. The DM must also create some kind of scenario, but it's up to the players how they want to experience the scenario.

When it comes to creating your character, we recommend that the players do it together with the DM. It's also a good idea if all players do it together, so that you can setup any relations you might want between your characters. Maybe someone is someone else's brother or fiancée? Or maybe you all grew up at the same orphanage? Whatever characters you create, we'd just like to point out that it's generally a tad more fun if you come up with a character that isn't a rip-off of yourself. Take this chance to try out living as someone else.
