I am pleased to release the sixth book in my Old School Monsters Series, which features legendary folkloric monsters I have interpreted for use in OSR campaigns. This new holiday-themed book focuses on the Germanic folklore baddies Frau Perchta and her beastfolk Perchten!
SYNOPSIS: For the uninitiated, Frau Perchta is an ancient folkloric creature, born of the pagan religious tradition in the alpine region of Germany on planet Earth. She is similar to Krampus; Grýla and The Yule Lads; the Dullahan and other fiends of myth and legend that terrorize and teach humans lessons during the holidays. Like the Icelandic witch Grýla and Slavic witch Baba Yaga, she has a dual aspect: a beautiful maiden and a frightening crone. In keeping with her dual role, she will reward the good with a silver coin, but for those found wanting she slit their bellies, remove their innards, and fills the cavity with straw and pebbles! In completing her gruesome task, Frau Perchta is aided by various minions, including holiday-themed constructs and her perchten: tall, muscular humanoids whose furry forms bear horned demonic goat heads, cloven hooves and thick bushy horse tails.

This supplement contains full OSR monster listing (a la the Monster Manual) for Frau Perchta, her bestial Perchten, and her holiday automatons the Gingerbread and Nutcracker Golems, which are intended to be compatible with most OSR retro-clones.
The version of these fiends in this supplement first appeared in the pages of my 2023 holiday one-shot adventure ”Frau Perchta’s Pinnacle”. However, I believed many GMs running OSR and similar retro-clone games, who prefer to “roll their own” adventures, might enjoy having a ready-made version of these baddies to drop into their own campaigns at the holidays, so I decided to release this version of these folkloric fiends for your personal use and enjoyment! While scaled for a high-level (8-10) party of adventurers, these version of Frau Perchta and her minions are easily modified to challenge players of any level, by merely adjusting their hit dice and hit points.
