Played on a square grid with terrain arranged as desired by the players. The game includes a detailed scenario generation system which allows for randomly determined army quality and composition, and leaders of varying ability (including attributes for “legendary generals.”) The rules also describe special characteristics and/or special units for the Egyptians, Mongols, Greeks, Athenians, Spartans, Persians, Romans, Carthaginians, and Celts.
