Story:
The game is set in the Metal Age (2014-2024), a time characterised by massive breakthroughs in AI and Robotics, demanding a greater supply of metals and minerals to support humanity’s technological conquests.
As the advancements of AI and Robotics continue to rise, global dynamics shift in favour of private sector corporations, specifically big-tech and energy companies, who managed to take control of the metal supply chain to increase their production and gain more control over global markets.
These companies seek to reshape the world in their image through their control of technology and metals. With a specific ideology aimed at bringing a utopian future into the present, the forces at play start enacting change in the world to reflect their vision.
ARDEVUR: The Game of Resources puts you in the middle of this race for control, and our upcoming book series will explain it all!
Note: The backstory of this game is a prequel to the soon-to-release novel saga "2064: Memories of the Future" by Gabriele Areolite.
Characters:
Each player is randomly assigned 1 of 4 mining enterprises. The company you play as impacts how you play with character-specific perks and abilities.
ARDEVUR Commodities – Specialists in mining logistics & networks
Africa Mining Union – A consortium of technical experts
Machine Corp – World leaders in technology and robotics
GREAT Mining – Conglomerate leading African mining operations
How to Play:
Each turn is played in four phases – Resource Collection Phase, Strategic Phase, Operational Phase, and Reward Phase.
At the beginning of each turn, you collect the number of coins corresponding to the amount of output in each mining territory.
Once you collect your resources, the Strategic Phase begins. You can choose to either:
• pick up 2 Development Cards (max hand: 4 cards, no duplicates),
• pick up 1 Executive Order Card and 1 Development Card, or
• pick up 1 Executive Order Card.
Moving on to the Operational Phase, you can either:
• start exploration of an owned territory,
• start exploitation of an explored territory, acquire an asset (Warehouse, Office, Vessel, etc.), upgrade an asset (Warehouse, Office, Vessel, etc.), or
• sell your resources.
Victory Conditions:
Your goal is to build the most optimized mining empire, reaching Strategic Objectives before your competitors. These objectives provide rewards, upgrades, and key advantages.
The game ends when:
• A player completes a Hard (Gold) Strategic Objective, OR
• All Easy & Medium Objectives have been claimed.
At the end, players tally their scores based on assets, wealth, and completed objectives. The corporation with the most efficient mining operation wins.
