While the game is set in the world of the 2003 anime, the story deviates from the series in many places. Sadly, this results in the omission of important characters like Skunk, a lack of backstories for characters like Atlas (who is just portrayed as a robot bent on destruction), and changes in several characters personalities like Shadow (who just wants to wipe out all humankind for no apparent reason).
