From publisher blurb:
Empire of the Skylands
High above the clouds of most worlds exist the skylands, places where creation never truly ended, and entire continents float, held up by unknown magicks. These places are ruled over by the Empire, a powerful collection of avarian peoples brought together under the Talon. The Talon serves all, and all serve the Talon. The Empire deems fit to keep to itself, not bothered by the downworld as the surface is called. However, avarian will occasionally come down to the land - whether by choice or by exile, most don’t know.
Six Lineages
Cinciallegra. Most cinciallegra come from families who have served their Empire as front-line fighters and defenders of their faith. They are often the first line of defense of the skylands the avarian call home.
Abutre. Taking their primal lots to be the keepers of the dead, the abutre also took it upon themselves to became masters of various arts, no longer content to be confined to shadows, and share the stories of those who have passed across the skylands.
Zog'dash. Taking it upon themselves to nurture the land their Empire claims in their expansion, zog’dash profess that they are the best natural caretakers amongst their people and faith, spread across the skylands in mass numbers to help grow.
Kakadu. Fearing a drop in their social status, the kakadu combined their innate mimicry with the arcane arts to secure their place in the Imperial hierarchy. Kakadu are naturally gifted with knowledge of the ancient ways, some even believing that it was powerful kakadu seers who created the skylands. But the Talon dissuades this theory, wanting unity and no one avarian lording over others.
Farka. Often considered to be lowly within their Empire, farka are the most numerous denizens of the Empire, and have taken their status as common workerfolk as a perfect cover for the deep eldritch arts they still hold to from their downworld origins.
Fuesogh. Not blind to the rising discontent of the lower classes in their Empire, fuesogh have been reassigned from being the best Imperial scouts to the best internal Inquisitors against rebellion. However, many of the fuesogh have begun to look inward and wonder if they are not part of the problem.
