The ceremony master leads the initiate, stripped to the waist and blindfolded, forward, and says: "Kneel before the blade of truth! Take this oath by the Holy Book. Break it and suffer death first by a slit throat and then by the removal and drowning of the heart."
The archivist observes the initiate make the correct signs and motions.
The ceremony master solicits: "Do you swear before all those who have entered before you into these halls, and to the darkness behind them, and by your own free will, that you will strive for the light and follow the path outlined within this book? That you will obey Her Majesty Queen Victoria and the Empire loyally, and without hesitation? That you, at all costs, will keep the secret of our mystery and ambitiously seek inspiration within? That the Barcleys Brødre noble and inspired mystery always will be the most important thing in your life, and that you want to promote it and invest all of your resources into it?"
The initiate responds: "Yes."
The ceremony master then removes the blindfold and the Highest Prelude proclaims: "Take your first step out of the shadows and enter the circle of Barcleys Brødre..."
The ritual is hereby completed and the Initiate is counted a full member of the brotherhood, in the 1st degree.
