Barons of Braunstein provides rules for 1:1 scale historical adventure games. The intent of the game is to recreate the methods and feel of gaming in David Weseley's "Braunstein" games that were historically significant in the development of early role playing.

The game uses one player as "the judge" and the other players assume the role of a single person in the fictional town of Braunstein; typically, the focus revolves around combat though not all players need be combatants - each player has personal goals.
