The unit size of the game is a regiment, and the goal is to recreate the appearance of the battle from January 26, the day after the Japanese army abandoned Sandepu, using simple rules using cards.

One plays Grippenberg, the commander of the Russian 2nd Manchurian Army, who is ordered to attack Sandepu, and the other plays Naofumi Tatsumi of the IJA 8th Division, who is ordered to defend this area.

The Russian commander-in-chief, Kuropatkin, was not very enthusiastic about the offensive due to factors such as the weather, lack of supplies, and when the Nogi's IJA Third Army, which had taken Port Arthur's fortress, would come to help. Therefore, the Russian player needs to proceed with the strategy while looking at Kuropatkin's mood, and the Japanese player has to deal psychological damage to Kuropatkin as one of the strategies.
