From publisher blurb:
“You’re at an inn, and someone wants to hire you…”
How often have your games started out this way? Be honest, how often have you started out your campaigns this way? The beginning is a crucial step for a campaign. The who, what, where, when, why, and how all come together to form the backbone of the adventure before it even begins, and that can be tough for some. Time crunches, lack of inspiration, the desire to simply try something new but not knowing how to do it – this is why we created “Begin the Begin.”
Our goal is simple: we want to provide DMs out there with the tools necessary to have great games, memorable campaigns. We are producing adventures and a core book to be released sometime in 2018, but along with it we have “Begin the Begin.” It is an experiment in several parts. Each time we release an adventure or some other project, we plan on releasing another series in the “Begin the Begin” experiment. But just what is “Begin the Begin?”
It starts out simple. You want to start out a one-shot, game, or even a campaign. You pick up our book and have someone roll the dice to choose a random starting storyline. That’s it.
Well, there is more to it than that. We provide the basis of a story to get things started. We give you the Adventure Hook, so you can draw in your players and get them excited for something new. We then give you some ideas for Possible Scenarios for the Adventure that are there simply as a primer to help jump-start your own ideas or to be used directly in the game. We give you some Notable NPCs just in case you need someone for the characters to speak with, hunt down, or act as a protagonist. And finally, we give you some Possible Encounters for several level groups just in case you don’t want to start your players at 1st level or want to run that high-level one-night game you’ve been promising for so many months.
All of these things above are just suggestions for the DM to help you along. Been really busy with work or real life? Break out the book and find a scenarios that fits your needs. Ready to start a new game but want to keep your players in suspense about the story? Break out the book and roll a random story. Need a few ideas to get your own creative juices flowing? Break out the book and skim through the pages to get some ideas.
We plan on producing “Begin the Begin” until it reaches ten different sections, giving everyone 100 different story arcs to use for a game. Is this possible? Absolutely. Can we keep it fresh and new? Absolutely. Will it help you? That’s up to you. This is just the first release of ten ideas to give you an idea and get you started. You be the judge of things to come…And welcome to Leave the Silver.
