Beneath the Waves (BtW) is a board-game but started as a floor-top game played entirely at shows. The game is set in a fictional world around 1870. Each player commands one or more steam punk submarines with the goal to sink the opposing side's submarines or fulfill a certain goal/mission.
In order to control a submarine usefully you have to order the crew to perform all the different tasks necessary to the running of a submarine. Then you have to decide the movement of the submarine, trying to outsmart your opponents move. While executing the movement you have to fire the weapons at the right moment to insure maximum devastation.
The game is played by two or more players. The players belong to one side or the other, Germany or the Confederate States of America (CSA). Each side has one or more submarines, three or four for a normal game.
