Berge des Wahnsinns: Der Soundtrack (auf CD)
Speziell zu dieser Kampagne neu komponierte Musik.
Wir schreiben das Jahr 1933. Eine unerschrockene Forschungsexpedition bricht ins ewige Eis der Antarktis auf, um ihre letzten Geheimnisse freizulegen. Doch was die Expeditionsteilnehmer finden, übersteigt die menschliche Vorstellungskraft. In den Tiefen eines gigantischen Bergmassivs liegen die Überreste einer vergessenen präkambrischen Zivilisation. So wecken die Forscher ungewollt ein Grauen auf, das besser unter ewigem Eis verborgen geblieben wäre.
Dieser klassische Horrorroman H.P. Lovecrafts und das Kult-Pen&Paper-Rollenspiel Cthulhu dienen als Grundlage für das zehnte Konzeptalbum von Erdenstern. Zusammen mit dem Schriftsteller und Cthulhu-Chefredakteur Frank Heller und dem französischen Cthulhu-Verlag Sans DéTour entstand die wohl tiefgründigste musikalische Reise Erdensterns.
Der Soundtrack begleitet die Forscher der Starkweather-Moore-Expedition von New York bis in die Tiefen der Antarktis und führt die Abenteurer durch das Grauen, das in den kalten Bergen des ewigen Eises lauert. Mit der stilistischen Erzählkraft symphonischer Filmmusik umspielt die Komposition entscheidende Situationen des Abenteuers. So werden wichtige Charaktere und Ereignisse musikalisch untermalt, Landschaften beschrieben oder der gnadenlose Überlebenskampf mit der Natur - und mit Dingen und Wesen wider die Natur - akzentreich musikalisch in Szene gesetzt.

We're writing the year 1933. A bold expedition is on its way to the eternal ice of Antarctica to uncover the last secrets of this continent. But what the explorers find lies beyond human comprehension. In the depths of a gigantic mountain range are buried the last remnants of a pre-cambric civilization. And thus the scientists unknowingly awaken what should better have been left under the ice.
The classic horror novel of H.P. Lovecraft and the cult pen & paper RPG Call of Cthulhu are the basis and background for the tenth concept album of Erdenstern. Together with author and managing Cthulhu editor Frank Heller, and the French Cthulhu publisher Sans DéTour they've created their most profound musical journey so far.
The soundtrack accompanies the explorers of the Starkweather-Moore expedition from New York to the icy depths of the Antarctic and leads the ivestigators through the horrors awaiting them in those cold mountains of eternal frost. Using stylistic elements of symphonic film music their compositions portrait defining moments along the way. Important characters or events are being accentuated, landscapes described, and the merciless battle with nature's forces - or those from another world - are staged excellently.
