When I make a magic item, I imagine the worlds and characters they come from. Are they hoarded by those dragons, brandished by a new evil, or wielded by great heroes? Where would you find these treasures, and why? A character can be driven or defined by such an item as quickly as they can be burdened by their curses. Good items can tell any number of great stories—which, to me, is the greatest magic of all.
