User summary with information details from Japanese Wikipedia

Bionic Commando (in Japan: Top Secret) is an scrolling 2D arcade game from Capcom, released in March 1987. The player controls a special soldier armed with a bionic arm with a grappling hook, that can grab ahold of branches and floors so that the player can climb up. The goal of the game is to reach the top/right exit of the stage, all the while defeating the enemies on screen.

On the different ports and naming confusion of Bionic Commando:
The game was ported to several home systems. For the C64 there were two separate port, the US port by Capcom and the UK port by Software creations. The NES port however, in Japan called "Hitler's resurrection – Top secret" was a direct sequel with large changes to the gameplay, and is hence not regarded as a release of the same game. The Game Boy port and the subsequent PS3 and Xbox360 "Bionic Commando Rearmed" releases were all ports and remakes of the NES version. The "Rearmed" remake served as a prequel to the 2009 game "Bionic Commando" for PS3/X360/Windows"
