Description

From publisher blurb:

“Sodas and Tonics in the Miskatonic Valley can sometimes be ... Out of this World.”

—♦—

“Bottoms Up!” is a medium-length investigative scenario of Cthulhu Mythos horror, set mostly in the industrial town of Bolton, some 4 miles from H.P. Lovecraft’s fictional town of Arkham. It can be played with access to just the open-source Cthulhu Eternal Jazz Age SRD, which (for convenience) we have bundled with the scenario. The adventure also comes with digital versions of all props and maps, to make it easier to run on a VTT of your preference.

About The Scenario: The sleepy industrial town of Bolton attracted salacious reputation in the wake of revelations about the early life Herbert West. But the place is best known for its manufactured goods which were once a mainstay of life in the Miskatonic Valley. In past decades, everyone bought leather goods from Bolton, fabrics woven in the Bolton Worsted Mills ... and even the fine ales and beers brewed by the Bolton Brewing Company.

In the case of the brewing industry, things have fallen on hard times at the Bolton plant. The Volstead act means they can now only brew sodas and other non-alcoholic beverages ... but cheaper transport from elsewhere in New England (and even further abroad) has rendered the soda business a hotly contested one. Locals suspect that Bolton Brewing are destined for bankruptcy.

However, the owners seem to have a card up their sleeve -- recently they announced the imminent release of a range of unorthodox new flavors. But who has heard of "Djingula Bean", or "Xuin Flower"? Will customers purchase drinks flavored with "Njamura Pods" or partake in "Moon Tree Ale"? The Bolton company is betting they will ... but is there something more to the weird new varieties? And will the out-of-town brands like Moxie and Bub-L-Pep take this lying down, or is the Miskatonic headed for a "soda war" of bizarrely flavored tonics?
