From publisher blurb:

A person who suddenly gains powers often finds their life upturned—and sometimes ruined—by the acquisition of superhuman abilities. Even when these powers offer advantages and benefits to their recipient, the person may find the situation overwhelming and struggle to adapt to their transformation. A person’s newfound powers can prove difficult to manage. They risk hurting others until they learn control and if they lose control in the meantime.

In some cases, having powers changes how a person views the world and their place in it. The person may come to see themselves as above the law or superior to other humans. They may feel the mundane limitations of the world no longer apply to them. On the other hand, some people would do anything to return to their former life. They feel isolated and ostracized because of these abilities and how normal people perceive them.
