The swamp soon became an important source of income, but since no one wanted to work voluntarily in the marshland, a camp was set up for convicts who were drugged with paralyzing Bilemash.
However, Marjura was not completely deserted when the tracorians invaded. Free thinkers had long before resorted to parts around the fishing village of Arhem. Including the peaceful druids of Kmorda whose holy sanctuary was build on the mountain Tindertooth, but also the infamous shagulite sect that was banished from the main islands in the south and built their Iron tower in the northern masif of Dymra. Since the Tracorian kingdom was only interested in
the sulfur monopoly, the treaty of Dymra was signed, which guaranteed the shagulites the right to continue their notorious vivisections and corpse study as long as the experiments were only performed on slaves and the island's primitive inhabitants, the kvuver tribes.
What no one knew was that the island's historical significance and that the extinct civilization of Cruri ruled on the island long ago. The Cruri peoples black magic had annoyed the gods and rendered the people childless. The witches of Cruri had given the king the advice of wintering the curse, and with powerful magic, the people were buried alive until the time when the curse would wear away, and the people of Cruri be resurrected.
