Description

Brocken is the second of a trilogy of games from the Japanese group ᚫ ᚱ ᛏ ᛖ ᛗ ᛁ ᛋ ᛁ ᚫ (Artemisia), which centre around the Witches' Sabbath, Walpurgis Night. Brocken is the highest peak in the Harz mountains in northern Germany. In folklore, it was the gathering place for witches to celebrate their rites (Goethe writes of it in his work Faust).

In this game, three witches must travel to Brocken to join their coven. Having already prepared their flying potions in the previous game, they now fly using a chair, a broomstick and a goat to carry them. They must pass through the perilous woodlands and swamps, and avoid the spiders.

The game is for three players only. Each player has a deck of cards, each showing a rune. There is a set of three dice, also with the runes. One player throws the dice, and the players must try to match the runes thrown with their hand cards. This allows them to move across the forest, as the cards each have special actions (such as move three places, or bring other witches to you).

The first player to successful get to the peak at Brocken is the winner.
