From the kickstarter:

A zine containing two rules-light games you can play in 30 minutes or less, both based on some of the most eccentric art from the margins of genuine mediaeval manuscripts.

Brother Why Would You Draw That?
Take on the role of a group of monks illuminating the manuscripts which contain the most important and serious knowledge of the mediaeval world. It is prestigious, it is fulfilling, it is enlightening, and it’s dull as dishwater. So why not, why shouldn’t you draw a funny little guy in the margins? Who would know? Who would even care?

It turns out everyone else who worked very hard on that manuscript has something to say about your artistic endeavours. Now you need to explain why yes, actually, the man-faced worm does belong next to the story of feeding the five thousand, no it doesn’t look “just like the abbot if he were a worm”, and that it that really says more about the accusers than you.

But you’re not alone: several of you succumbed to the siren call of the silly little picture so there’s a chance you can make your misstep look more reasonable than theirs and avoid punishment this time.

Draw a card each to tell you what your margins doodle was and which very important passage you defaced; then get ready to justify it to all and sundry.

Choose your playstyle between two game modes.
Duel: wherein two players face off to make their case, with the winner escaping punishment..
Brawl: All players make their case at once in a cacophony of cartoons and castigation.

Brother Why would you Say that?
Travel from town to town as a group of con artists preaching an absurd gospel of made up saints, unrecorded miracles, and merch (at an affordably low price). Cross your fingers, kiss your lucky martyrs foot and pray that no one realises that you’ve swindled them!

Each round in Brother, Why Would You Say That? begins with you rolling into town on your cart filled with discount holy water and jackets emblazoned with “I was blessede by the ladye of the sacral snaile and all thou givst was yon lousy jerkin”. You then draw cards to describe the lesson you’ll impart to these lucky suckers.

You then find something has gone wrong - someone has rumbled your righteous ruse and you need to skip town quickly. A quick dice roll tells you how wrong things have gone for your little posse but it’s up to you to tell the tale of your escape to pastures new.

The game progresses until you encounter a problem which you can’t run away from in time and your days as a walking heretical calamity come to an end.

Featuring rules to play as a group of ne'er-do-wells or as a solo experience!
