Description

From publisher blurb:

Adventurers die. It’s a universal part of tabletop games that focus on combat, like Dungeons and Dragons. However, we spend so much time trying to understand how an adventurer lives without ever considering how they would like to die. Some groups leave the bodies of their allies in dungeons and others simply toss them in a pine box, stick it in a hole, and forget about it.

But if we spend so much time fleshing out the racial and regional cultures of our fantasy worlds, why are we so ready to say that they all have the same traditions when it comes to death, passing, and burial? Burial Rites seeks to present an alternative to the simple pine box.

Burial rituals are highly influenced by the cultures they come from which are in turn influenced by resource availability and their environment. Burial Rites will focus on the core races presented in the Player’s Handbook while also presenting several generic rites that could be made to work with any culture.

Burial Rites is an 8 page document to help Dungeon Masters and players consider a new aspect of the roleplaying experience, the death of a character and how even in death they can contribute to the collaborative story of the game.
