Buried Treasure is a 2-4 team game where sides compete with each other search, dig up, and escape with a treasure buried on an unhospitable island. While the game is written from a fantasical pirate point-of-view, you can really substitute is scenario into any genre when you need your players to avoid being killed by natives, nature, and each other while trying to retrieve the hidden item.
The set up drives the different teams to move all over the board while trying to gain an advantage, so no turtling. There are false leads and deception built into the system, so the drama unfolds incrementally over time. And after all that intrigue, the final phase almost unerringly leads to a nice little blood bath, to work out the tension.
