Description

From publisher blurb:

Welcome to Volume XI of the BX Game Options. This issue presents the Monk and Martial Artist class, new monk weapons, alternate rules for unarmed attacks and grappling infused with Weapon Mastery, and several new feats for your monk or martial artist character.

The Monk class incorporates weapon mastery rules in regard to his unarmed attacks as well as Ki and Ki powers to help power up his abilities over time. While the monk class is nothing new, using the Weapon Mastery rules presented in BX Game Options Volume II allows the character to build up his unarmed attacks in the order desired rather than being locked into a specific progression. Several variant monk builds are also given, swapping out abilities or Ki powers to provide interesting and nonstandard monk builds. Rules for dealing with high-level monks are also given as well.

21 monk weapons are also given ranging from the Butterfly Sword to the Yin Yang Blades. Many of these weapons also grant special properties to those who choose to master them.

The Martial Artist class may be considered the Monk class light version. The Martial Artist can be nearly as deadly with his attacks as the monk and he does gain access to Ki, but he is much more limited as to what can be done with it.

New alternate/optional rules are presented for unarmed attacks and grappling, especially when integrating them with the Weapon Mastery rules including new combat options for grappling opponents. And the issue ends with several new feats are presented for those that choose the master unarmed attacks, grappling, or using monk weapons.
