Carl's Crossing

From the introduction:

Carl dug too deep. He hit a piece of chaos element. The element spawned several creatures that fled into the forest. An amorphic humanoid with a featureless face stood in front of Carl, studying him. Carl watched as the creature’s skin moved and morphed. Within a few blinks of the eye, the creature transform into Carl’s likeness. A sharp pain ripped into Carl’s head, like someone was tearing out his memories. Carl grabbed his head and attempted to scream, but only blood filled his mouth. The creature stabbed Carl with his own dagger. Carl watched the apathetic creature lower him into the hole as he felt more of his memories torn from his mind. Until the black came.
