Comic book portion:
This book starts with Flare and Rose having a heart-to-heart, wherein we discover that Flare is actually a DEMON science project gone rogue. This touching scene is interrupted by Malice beating up on half the Champions team and tearing apart Dr. Arcane's mansion. Marksmen and Flare escape to regroup, while Malice deigns to allow the DEMON Master to serve her. When the Champions regroup, Foxbat shows up and offers to help. We discover that DEMON is blackmailing Giant by holding his family hostage. But when Giant realizes the Demon Master is playing for keeps, he refuses to play along.
