User summary:

Charognards is a post-apocalyptic survival role-playing game in which the characters struggle to keep warm, get enough to eat, and avoid dangerous beasts. And alien invaders.

In the very near future, a vast meteorite crashed in South Dakota. The resulting climatic and geopolitical upheavals disfigured the planet. Nuclear winter, extreme cold, and disease have decimated the population. Because bad things never happen one at a time, the Earth was then invaded by two alien races engaged in a bloodthirsty war: the zgrikk and the dogloks.
