There’s no appetizer so mouth-watering as a good cheeseboard. There’s a pleasure to timeless foods—meat, cheeses, fruits and grains—spread out like a savory work of art. These morsels combine in endless ways—do you want cheese and crackers? Crackers and meat? Cheese and fruit? Do you want to stack one of everything into a giant charcuterie sandwich?
But the real question is: can you make a good cheeseboard? The party is barely an hour from now! You have the ingredients, but they still need to be cut and served. It’s time to find out if you’ve got the chops to make a cheeseboard deluxe.
Cheeseboard Deluxe is a solitaire roll-and-write for one player, originally developed for the 2020 Solitaire Print-and-Play Contest. Your goal is to build a jam-packed cheeseboard, leaving as few empty spaces as possible at the end of the game.
Each round, you draw shapes representing food onto each of your cutting boards. When you can’t draw another shape onto a cutting board, that board is done, and when every board is done, the number of empty spaces remaining becomes your score. The more spaces you manage to fill in, the lower your score—and the better!
