Vincent, a particularly hateful and ambitious lowly clerk, is plotting to get a promotion. It doesn't hurt that his boss, a merchant by the name of Horrum, is a thieving, double-crossing, pompous ass. Vincent has sprinkled rumors in the tavern hoping to find an interested group of adventurers to 'assist' him with his promotion. He knows Horrum is planning on selling to a new evil cult. Vincent knows adventurers hate evil cults. It couldn’t have worked out better.
