Community Radio is a dark comedy improv game that tells the stories of an isolated and weird community. It stitches together improv “slice of life” stories together in the dispatches and announcements of the local public radio host, who may or may not completely beholden to a sinister and mysterious City Council. It is a high improv game that can entertain a group of 3-10 players for a half-hour to an hour and a half.
This game is inspired all sorts of shows that center around radio stations. While the game incorporates elements of the supernatural in homage to the hilarious and creepy podcast Welcome to Night Vale, the game also takes cues and inspiration from shows like WKRP in Cincinnati, News Radio, Northern Exposure, and Pump up the Volume. Any place where dysfunctional antics play out around a radio station is great fodder and source material for this game.
