User Summary
On one hand, Conquest of Elysium 4 can be a relatively quick monster-killing game with a bit of a roguelike element. On the other hand, it's a strategic wargame where you have to build armies and establish a network of bases. It's also a game that involves resource management, and each of the various races may be going after different kinds of resources. Meanwhile independent forces and wandering monsters constantly present hurdles to overcome. It's a dudes-on-a-map game where the basic objective is to destroy enemies or control the map, but there are six dimensions to this map. Frustrated by a demon? Follow it down to hell and fight it there. Also, each race has its own specific objectives. The variety of available races, units, and spells, along with the procedurally generated maps, make CoE4 endlessly fascinating--which is unusual for what seems to be a light, quick-playing game.
