Cotton: Fantastic Night Dreams is the first game in the long running Cotton series of video games. It was originally developed by Success and published on Sega's 16bit arcade board in 1989.
The player controls a witch named Cotton that flies around on a broomstick and shoots down enemies with her magic. There are seven stages in the game and a variety of power ups.
One day an evil mist covers the earth and gets rid of the day. A witch (Cotton) walks into the woods and comes upon a crying fairy. Cotton ignores the fairy because she is after her favorite snack: Willows. The fairy begs the witch to help her restore daylight to the world, and eventually convinces Cotton to help her by offering Willows in exchange for her help.
