The setting may or may not be a bowl carved by God into the back of a giant turtle, rimmed with thin air, mountains and glaciers, and at the bottom a tropical land where it seldom rains, on the shores of the only Salt Sea. A great empire once grew here, but has now crumbled to memory in the last millenia. Now civilization is growing again, in the shape of city states, some more powerful than others, clinging to the sides of the bowl like cornflakes from yesterday's breakfast.
