Characters in this story-telling game are defined by three antagonistic Attributes - Water, Dirt, and Rat. Each Attribute has an associated Goal, Score ("Dot Marks"), and Die Reservoir. Additionally, each Attribute interfaces with each other to form three secondary Traits - Clay, Personality, and Instability.
The game follows multiple characters in a shared narrative, but the characters usually do not experience the same scenes. Instead of viewing the same events from multiple points of view, the game instead views intersecting actions from unique perspectives.
The game has been published in a variety of implementations (see versions), each with elaboration, refinement, examples of play, and clarifications. The most-current version should be preferred for play, though various early versions remain available for download from the author's site.
