It is over a century since the first ANZACs -- young soldiers from the newly-formed nations of Australia and New Zealand -- fought in the infamous WW1 battles at Gallipoli. Among their number were 50 or more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men, though their contribution to the efforts in these (and subsequent) conflicts are not remembered with as much fanfare as most. This scenario presents a terrifying tale of cosmic-horror fuelled hate from dark entities conjured on those far-distant foreign battlefields, fed by a century of resentment and hate, and ultimately unleashed upon an unsuspecting modern world.
A year ago, minor news story reported recent advances in DNA testing that had allowed one of the many "unknown soldiers" interred in ANZAC graves in Turkey to be finally identified. He was a son of a wealthy white family of Sydney lawyers, whose modern day descendents have decided to pay the eye-watering cost of having his remains returned to Australia. Naturally, local media has made much of this show of patriotism, whipping the story up into a jingoistic PR exercise which politicians have been drawn to like flies. Unfortunately, the body of the long-dead soldier carries with it a secret ... one which will soon make life in Sydney very, very interesting indeed. And not in a good way.
"Thou Didst Let Fall" is a substantial high-octane action/investigation scenario set in present-day Sydney. Violent acts of mass destruction cause havoc in some of the city's most recognizable landmarks. Are these the acts of a lone-wolf terrorist or an international group? The authorities certainly believe so ... but as usual, the truth might just be something much weirder, and the task of stopping the escalating incidents falls to a handful of everyday Australians, people who seem to have an uncanny connection to the strange and unpredictable events. But can they track down the source of horrors before they reach their final culmination ...?
The scenario can be played with access to just the open-source Cthulhu Eternal Modern SRD, which (for your convenience) we've bundled with the scenario. The adventure also comes with isolated digital versions of all props and maps, to make it easier to run on a VTT of your preference.
