The Order had trained her in the real Rite of Exorcism (not the fake one spread by the Church to prevent its abuse), and they had bound Elliot to a chair and locked the door from the inside. Together with her Sisters, they had acquired Elliot’s three ancorae: a bottle of expensive whiskey for his Pain, a framed photo of his deceased husband for his Regret, and a Pride flag for his Passion.
She began the rite and the other sisters joined in. “In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti, amen. Exurgat Deus et dissipentur inimici ejus....” She looked down at Elliot, his body slumped forward and held only by the ropes, and felt pity. If this rite did not work, Elliot’s soul would be destroyed and the demon inside would grow more powerful.
