Intended as a supplement for To Challenge Tomorrow, the publisher also advertised it as compatible with Call of Cthulhu, GURPS, and Hero System.
This item won the 1990 Sigma Award for Best RPG Aid. The sourcebook was reprinted at least once in 1992.
