Congratulations – I’m sorry.

You have been both blessed and cursed to be a Game Master (GM). The GM is the creator of the world, the provider of enemies, treasures and excitement for their players. You hold the power of life and death over the Player Characterss (quit laughing). Needless to say, it’s not an easy task. What follows is some sage advice that will help GMs strut their stuff.

The first thing is to understand the role of the GM. This role is the creator, organizer and arbitrator of all. However, there is one thing that any new GM must understand. The game master is not the enemy of the Player Characters! You will be providing conflicts and challenges, as well as interactions, but it must never get personal. Roleplaying is supposed to be fun.
