Players attempt to deflect a nuclear attack upon the United States using several futuristic anti-ballistic missile systems, also known as the Strategic Defense Initiative.
Among the weapon types included are land-based chemical lasers that fire into space and can be deflected by orbiting lasers, space-based lasers, neutral particle beam weapons, and electro-magnetic launchers that fire "smart bullets".
