Sand, rocks, some cacti and an apparently endless straight line of tarmac are almost all to be seen far and wide. Under these circumstances the sign by the roadside is almost a novelty. Its text though hints at many more miles of bleak, dreary desert ahead of you. At least the road has separate lanes for traffic going in either direction and seems to be in good repair.
