Elymas was once a promising young spellcaster at the College of Mages. He gained a reputation for dabbling in magic the archmages considered dangerous and morally questionable. Elymas ignored their warnings and was eventually banished. Elymas, undeterred, continued his studies on his own, creating a workshop in the ruined catacombs of a nearby fortress.
The archmages keep a watchful eye on Elymas and hire the party to capture him alive.
